I have been actively trading the markets since 1997. Since that time I have experienced tremendous success both as a short term discretionary trader and as a long term systematic trader.
My career began as a discretionary trader trading high beta US equities for hedge fund manager Phil Herbert of NDX Trading. In 2001 I met Market Wizard Ed Seykota who suggested that I systematize my trading methodologies. That suggestion from Ed directed me into the systematic trading world. Ed and I became great friends over the years and I learned much wisdom from him. I have also had the fortunate experience of meeting, becoming friends with, managing money for, and learning from a few other Market Wizards over the years.
My trading career has also had its ups and downs along the way. I have had many spectacular run-ups and several large drawdowns, and many small ones as well. Trading the markets can be extremely lucrative but does not come without its risks.
I have taken tremendous risks along the way and some have paid off and other have not. To succeed in trading you must take risk. This also means that you can lose substantial amounts of money in the process. On occasion I have lost substantial amounts of money trading. As every trader knows, drawdowns from time to time are unavoidable and part of the trading process.
Thus, you should note that money management is what ultimately determines the success or failure of a trader over the long run. I have traded many different strategies, many different time frames, on many different markets around the globe. The one static condition that never changed through it all is money management. Without the proper money management it is impossible to be successful as a trader.
My personal results are not typical for the average trader and this page is meant to merely demonstrate my trading prowess and ability. Many people make unsubstantiated claims all the time and try to hype products and methodologies that they have never traded and/or used. I back up all my claims with real results as shown below. There is no substitute for real world experience and I have a ton of it!
The following tables and pdf reports below contain portions of both my long term systematic and short term discretionary trading track records. It is not a complete and full representation of my complete track record. There is no guarantee that anyone will achieve results similar to these and past performance is not indicative of futures results.
Trading-Strategy.com guarantees the accuracy of these results. The long term systematic track record for Dekker Capital Management has been audited by Arthur F. Bell Jr. & Associates L.L.C. The short term discretionary track record, while not audited, contains portions of my real brokerage statements. There are very few, if any, trading coaches that are willing to publish audited results and/or actual brokerage statements to support their methods. I have published excerpts of both. It should be noted that the Trading Systems Course contains my complete audited track record for Dekker Capital Management's Global Diversified Program.
All trading involves risk, read our risk disclosure.
It should be noted that "my return” is the "time weighted rate of return." The time weighted rate of return, found on page 3 of each of my statements as computed by Interactive Brokers, eliminates the impact of additions or withdrawals of capital to the account. Thus, the time weighted rate of return represents the true return attributable to my trading and is not increased due to additions nor penalized due to withdrawals. It represents the true rate of return.
| My Return | S&P 500* | REAL RESULTS! | |
| July 2008 | +121.35% | -0.99% | View Statement |
| October 2008 | +141.80% | -16.94% | View Statement |
| March 2009 | +83.12% | +8.54% | View Statement |

Trading involves risk and in some cases high degrees of risk.
In both October 2008 and March 2009 I made significant withdrawals mid-month which is why I choose to publish the time weighted rate of return. Again, this entry can be found on page 3 of all of my statements and reflects the true rate of return for each monthly period. Per Interactive Brokers website:
Time-Weighted Return (TWR): Select this percentage value measure to view the percent return produced over time independent of contributions or withdrawals.TWR eliminates the impact of the timing of fund cash flows and isolates the portion of a portfolio's return that is attributable solely to the manager's actions. TWR is typically used for public fund managers because they normally do not control cash flowing into or out of their funds.

My long term systematic track record was achieved using intermediate to long term trend following systems. At my peak I was managing in excess of $250 million using these strategies. My Trading Systems Course teaches all of the core concepts that I used to achieve these results. Many of the systems taught in the course are similar to the ones referred to here.

CFTC RULE 4.41: HYPOTHETICAL PERFORMANCE RESULTS HAVE MANY INHERENT LIMITATIONS, SOME OF WHICH ARE DESCRIBED BELOW. NO REPRESENTATION IS BEING MADE THAT ANY ACCOUNT WILL OR IS LIKELY TO ACHIEVE PROFITS OR LOSSES SIMILAR TO THOSE SHOWN. IN FACT, THERE ARE FREQUENTLY SHARP DIFFERENCES BETWEEN HYPOTHETICAL PERFORMANCE RESULTS AND THE ACTUAL RESULTS SUBSEQUENTLY ACHIEVED BY ANY PARTICULAR TRADING PROGRAM. THERE ARE NUMEROUS OTHER FACTORS RELATED TO THE MARKETS IN GENERAL OR TO THE IMPLEMENTATION OF ANY SPECIFIC TRADING PROGRAM WHICH CANNOT BE FULLY ACCOUNTED FOR IN THE PREPARATION OF HYPOTHETICAL PERFORMANCE RESULTS AND ALL WHICH CAN ADVERSELY AFFECT TRADING RESULTS.
